Mailbox Post Tutorial

Mailbox Post Lettering

House numbers, street names, or sirnames can be added to your mailbox post. We permanently sandblast all lettering directly into the granite to a depth of approximately 3/16 inch (or more depending on the font used). Lettering can be added to any side of the mailbox post. All lettering is painted with a special paint made exclusively for granite to enhance the contrast between letters and the granite. This allows for easy readability at a significant distance.

Fonts

Fonts can vary widely; however, the standard mailbox post font is the Benguiat font type. With few exceptions, all lettering is upper case. It is important to select a font where the upper case letters are sufficiently wide enough to properly sandblast. Star Granite Company has an extensive list of fonts to choose from. Discuss your font preference with one of our granite consultants and we will ensure that the font can be sandblasted.

Examples

The following images show lettering of single, double, and triple digit house numbers on our standard mailbox post.

TUTORIAL TIP

Single and double digit house numbers can be placed horizontally on a mailbox post. Three or more digits must be oriented vertically or diagonally on the post.
